Giza, Memphis & Saqqara
The three pyramids and the Sphinx, then Memphis and Saqqara on a separate day
Seven hotel nights, no cruise: three in Cairo, two in Luxor, two in Aswan, with a day flight to Abu Simbel and a road day via Edfu and Kom Ombo.
From, per person$9206 or more travellers · 3-star hotels

This plan gives each region at least two nights, so no day is a transfer day only. Cairo has three nights because it has three separate sets of sites: Giza, Saqqara and Memphis, and the museum. Luxor and Aswan have two nights each.
Abu Simbel is a day trip by air from Aswan. The flight is short, against a long drive on the road convoy, which leaves very early. We choose the flight here so the day stays calm.
It suits travellers who want hotels, steady pacing and Abu Simbel, and prefer land touring to a ship. It does not suit anyone who wants to sleep on the Nile.

Arrival. Our representative meets you at the airport and helps you through to the terminal exit, where your driver and guide are waiting. A private air-conditioned vehicle takes you to your hotel in Cairo and you check in.
Rest of the day. Rest after the flight. Your guide gives you a short talk on the order of the sites over the coming days and agrees the pick-up time for the next morning. No meals are included today, and the guide can suggest places to eat near the hotel.
Morning. After breakfast at the hotel, your private Egyptologist guide and driver take you to the Giza plateau. Giza gets the whole day, and entrance fees are included. The pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure belong to the Fourth Dynasty, c. 2600 to 2500 BC. Your guide explains each monument as you walk, including why Khafre's pyramid looks taller than Khufu's: it sits on higher ground at a steeper angle.
Afternoon. Lunch is not included, so your guide helps you choose a place and a rest stop before the Sphinx. Bottled water is provided in the vehicle, and the driver takes you back to the hotel when the visit ends.
Morning. Your driver takes you about 30 km south of modern Cairo to Saqqara, the burial ground of Memphis, the ancient capital. Your guide explains how the two belong together, then leads you to the Step Pyramid, the oldest complete stone building complex we know of. The walls of Unas's pyramid carry the first Pyramid Texts, and Memphis itself completes the morning. Entrance fees for these sites are included.
Afternoon. You return to Cairo for the Grand Egyptian Museum, which opened on 1 November 2025. Your guide leads the visit, and the day ends in the afternoon, so you have time to rest at the hotel. Lunch is not included; the guide helps you pick a place between the two visits.
Morning. After breakfast your driver takes you to Cairo airport for the domestic flight to Luxor, which takes about 1 hour. Your guide and driver meet you in Luxor and your luggage travels with you in the private vehicle. Karnak occupies the morning: the Precinct of Amun-Re contains an obelisk 29 m tall, and your guide explains what you are looking at. Entrance fees are included.
Afternoon. You check in at the hotel in Luxor and rest. Later you walk through Luxor Temple, where two seated figures of Ramesses II guard the entrance. Lunch is not included, and your guide helps you choose where to eat.
Evening. Dinner is not included, and your guide is glad to suggest places to eat near the hotel. You sleep at your hotel in Luxor. Your guide confirms the start time for the west bank.
Morning. You cross to the west bank with your guide and driver. The Valley of the Kings has tombs numbered KV1 to KV64, and Tutankhamun's is KV62, found on 4 November 1922. Your guide helps you choose which open tombs to enter. The standard entrance fee is included; the extra-ticket tombs (Tutankhamun, Seti I and Ramses VI) are paid separately. Hatshepsut's temple at Deir el-Bahari, with its three terraces, finishes the morning.
Afternoon. The driver brings you back to your hotel in Luxor and the rest of the day is yours. Lunch is not included, so ask your guide for places to eat.
Evening. Dinner is not included, and your guide is glad to suggest places to eat near the hotel. You sleep at your hotel in Luxor. Your guide briefs you on tomorrow's road to Aswan and the pick-up time.
Morning. After breakfast and check-out, you leave Luxor by road with your guide in the private air-conditioned vehicle. Aswan is about 220 km away, and the route takes in two temples: Edfu first, then Kom Ombo, and Aswan after that.
Afternoon. At Edfu you visit the temple of Horus, begun in 237 BC and completed in 57 BC. At Kom Ombo you enter a double temple dedicated to Sobek and Harwer, with two parallel passages that each end in their own sanctuary. Entrance fees for both are included. Plan a lunch stop between the temples: lunch is not included, and your guide helps you choose a place. The driver then takes you to your hotel in Aswan and you check in.
Morning. Your driver takes you to Aswan airport in the early morning, and you fly to Abu Simbel with your guide. Ramesses II built the two temples in the 13th century BC. In 1968 they were cut into 1,036 blocks and moved to higher ground because of the High Dam, and your guide explains the move as you stand in front of them. Entrance fees are included.
Afternoon. You fly back to Aswan. In the afternoon you cross by boat to Philae with your guide. Lunch is not included, and the guide helps you choose a place. The driver then returns you to the hotel in Aswan.
Evening. Dinner is not included, and your guide is glad to suggest places to eat near the hotel. You sleep at your hotel in Aswan. Your guide confirms the arrangements for tomorrow's departure.
Departure. After breakfast and check-out, your driver takes you to Aswan airport for the short domestic flight to Cairo. We choose the departure to suit your international flight and confirm it when we book. Your guide meets you in Cairo and sees you to the international departures. Your luggage stays with you in the private vehicle at each transfer. Lunch and dinner are not included. Your guide confirms the pick-up time the evening before.
