Guided quad bike ride
A briefing, then a ride with your guide across desert tracks
An afternoon in the desert beside the pyramids: a guided quad bike ride, tea on a dune and the sun going down behind the skyline. About 4 hours.
From, per person$556 or more travellers

This is a short, active tour for the hours after the monuments have closed. The Giza plateau itself is open from 8:00 to 16:00 according to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, so sunset happens in the open desert outside the archaeological area. That is where this tour runs, with the pyramids in view on the horizon. You do not go inside the plateau on this tour, and the quads do not ride among the monuments. We confirm the riding area when you book.
The core of the afternoon is a guided quad bike ride across sand and hard-packed tracks, followed by tea in the desert while the light changes. Camel rides are a separate question, because Egypt is moving camel and horse rides off the Giza plateau and replacing them with electric shuttles, so rules and availability are changing. We confirm what is offered for your date when you book.
It suits adults, teenagers who can follow instructions, and groups of friends who want something active. It does not suit travellers with back, neck or heart problems, pregnant women, or anyone who wants a quiet scenic walk. A quad is bumpy and dusty, and a ride is not the right choice if you would rather look than move.

The start time changes through the year, because sunset does. In mid-June, sunset in Cairo is about 7:56 pm, and in winter it falls much earlier. We confirm your pick-up time when you book.
At the meeting point your guide explains the controls, the signals and the rules of the ride. You are fitted with a helmet before you sit on a quad. Guests who do not feel confident should tell the guide, who sets the pace.
You ride in a line behind your guide at a pace set for the least experienced rider. The track crosses open sand and firm ground. The pyramids stay on the horizon. We confirm the route and the meeting point when you book.
The ride stops at a spot where you can get off the quad and sit. There is tea, and a chance to take photos while the light turns orange. If a camel walk is offered on your date, this is where it fits.
Your driver takes you back to your hotel, usually in the early evening, depending on traffic.

Quads kick up dust and sand. Bring sunglasses or goggles, a scarf or a buff for your nose and mouth, and closed shoes. In summer, put sunscreen on before you leave the hotel.
Do not drive faster than your guide. Listen to the briefing before you start, and tell the guide if you have never ridden a quad. Do not ride after drinking alcohol. Tell us the ages of any children when you book, and we confirm whether they can ride.
This tour does not enter the Giza plateau, which closes at 16:00. If you want to go inside, visit in the morning, since it opens at 8:00, and keep the afternoon for the desert.
The ministry announced plans to replace camel and horse rides around the Giza pyramids with electric transport, and reports in 2026 describe the rides as being phased out. We found no official rule for the desert outside the plateau, so we confirm what is offered on your date before you travel and drop the camel option if it is not clearly allowed.
Send every cancellation by email so that we can confirm it in writing. The charge is a percentage of the tour price, and anything you paid above it is refunded.

FAQ
Still unsure? Message us on WhatsApp and a real person from our team will answer.
No. The tour runs in the open desert beyond the archaeological area, with the pyramids in sight, and the plateau is not part of it. We could not find an official rule on quads, so we simply keep the route outside the area and ask you not to ride into it.
Yes, if you follow the briefing. You wear a helmet and ride behind your guide at the pace of the slowest rider. Tell the guide at once if you want to stop.
It is not part of the quad ride, and it depends on the rules of the day. Egypt is phasing out animal rides on the plateau, so we confirm in advance what is offered where.
It changes with the season. In mid-June sunset in Cairo is around 7:56 pm, and in winter it is much earlier. Your pick-up time follows it.
Yes. Go to the plateau in the morning, because it closes at 16:00, and join this tour in the afternoon. That makes a full day, so say so when you book.
