From, per person$1,3756 or more travellers · 3-star hotels

Grand Egypt covers the north and the south in one trip. After Cairo you drive to Alexandria for two nights and return to Cairo. From there one flight takes you to Luxor, and a road day takes you to Aswan.
The trip has two long road days, Cairo to Alexandria and Luxor to Aswan, and every other day has a morning visit and an afternoon off. Nights are in four cities.
It suits families with older children who can manage 11 days and several hotel changes. It is not a gentle program for toddlers, and we would not use it to introduce a first-time traveller to long journeys.

Arrival. You are met at arrivals by a guide, who helps you through the airport and takes you to a private air-conditioned vehicle. The vehicle drives the family and the luggage to the hotel in Cairo, and you check in.
The day is clear of plans, so the children can rest after the flight. No meals are included today. If anyone is hungry, the guide can name a simple place near the hotel, and will tell you when the next morning begins.
Morning. The morning goes to Giza. Your guide and the private vehicle collect you at the hotel, with entrance fees and bottled water covered. You see the three pyramids, then the Sphinx, and the guide explains what each one is. After the visit the children ride camels.
Afternoon. You return to the hotel for the heat of the day. A papyrus workshop stop in the late afternoon is optional, and the guide skips it if the children are tired. Breakfast is the only meal included today. Lunch and dinner are your choice, and the guide helps you choose places.
Morning. The vehicle takes you south to Saqqara, about 30 km from Cairo. Its Step Pyramid is the oldest complete stone building complex known, and your guide explains how it was built and why it matters. Entrance fees are included. It is an open-air stop, so the children can move around.
Afternoon. Memphis lies nearby, with a limestone colossus of Ramesses II on its back and a large alabaster sphinx. Both are also open-air, and the guide lets the children walk around the figures. Then you return to the hotel. Breakfast is included; lunch and dinner are not, and the guide helps you find places to eat.
Morning. After breakfast and check-out, the private air-conditioned vehicle leaves Cairo with your guide and the luggage. The drive to Alexandria is about 220 km. Bottled water is on board, and the vehicle stops on the way if the family needs a break.
Afternoon. In Alexandria you check in at the hotel. The Qaitbay Citadel, built from 1477 to 1479, stands at the mouth of the eastern harbour, and the guide shows the family around it. Pompey's Pillar, 30 m high with its base, is the second stop. Entrance fees are included. Lunch and dinner are not, and the guide helps you choose places.
Morning. Bibliotheca Alexandrina opened in 2002 and has a planetarium. The vehicle takes you there with your guide, and the entrance fee is included. The guide chooses the parts of the building that suit the children, and the vehicle waits for you outside. Bottled water is on board.
Afternoon. The Kom el Shoqafa catacombs, found by chance in 1900, are next, and the guide explains what the family sees as you go down. The family has the late afternoon for the sea front. Breakfast is the only meal included today, so lunch and dinner are your choice, with the guide's help.
Morning. After breakfast you check out of the Alexandria hotel. The road to Cairo takes about the same time as on the way out, and the luggage travels in the private vehicle. You check in again at the hotel in Cairo.
Afternoon. The afternoon visit is to the Grand Egyptian Museum, with the entrance fee included. The guide shows the Ramesses II statue, 11 m high and 83 tonnes, and shows the children how large it is. Lunch and dinner are not included, and the guide helps you choose where to eat.
Morning. After breakfast and check-out, the vehicle takes you to Cairo airport for the domestic flight to Luxor. The flight south is about an hour and is part of the program.
Afternoon. A guide and a private vehicle meet you in Luxor and take you and the luggage to the hotel, where you check in. The family rests after landing. Luxor Temple is the late-afternoon visit, with the guide leading it and the entrance fee included. Lunch and dinner are not included, and the guide helps you choose places.
Morning. In the morning your guide and the vehicle take you to the Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut's temple. The standard entrance fees are included. The extra-ticket tombs (Tutankhamun, Seti I and Ramesses VI) are optional and not included.
Afternoon. Karnak is after a break at the hotel, when the stone has cooled. The hypostyle hall has 134 columns, and the guide gives the children something to look for as you walk through. Breakfast is included; lunch and dinner are not, and the guide helps you choose places the children will eat at.
Morning. After breakfast you check out, and the private air-conditioned vehicle leaves Luxor with your guide. The distance to Aswan is about 220 km. Edfu and Kom Ombo are the two temple stops, each led by the guide, with entrance fees included. Bottled water is on board, and the stops are short so the children can get back into the vehicle and rest.
Afternoon. Lunch is not included, so the guide helps you find a place on the way. You reach Aswan in the late afternoon and check in at the hotel. Dinner is not included, and the guide suggests where to eat. The afternoon is kept light after the long road day.
Morning. Your guide and the vehicle take you to Philae. Its temples were moved to Agilkia Island, about 500 m from the original island, and the guide explains why the move was needed. The entrance fee is included.
Afternoon. The Nubian Museum is an indoor stop out of the sun. A felucca on the river ends the visit, with the vehicle taking you to the hotel afterwards. Breakfast is the only meal included today. Lunch and dinner are your choice, and the guide helps you pick places the children will eat at.
Departure. After breakfast and check-out, the private vehicle takes you to Aswan airport. The flight from Aswan to Cairo is a short domestic one and is part of the program.
Your guide helps at Cairo. The pick-up time at the hotel is set by your flight, and there is no sightseeing on this day, so the family can leave at an easy pace. Breakfast is the only meal included. The 10 hotel nights, the guide and the vehicle end with this transfer, and flights home are not part of the package.
