Giza pyramids
And the Sphinx
Three days by road: the Giza pyramids first, then 220 km to Alexandria for a night on the Mediterranean and the library the next morning.
From, per person$2656 or more travellers · 3-star hotels

One night in Cairo, one in Alexandria, and a drive of about 220 km between them. That is the whole shape of the trip.
Alexandria is a different city from Cairo. It has a sea front, a harbour fortress and a library built in 2002. The pyramids are the only Cairo stop, so the trip is light on Egyptian temples.
It suits travellers who want the pyramids plus a coast. It does not suit anyone who wants Luxor, and the drive is a real part of the day.

Arrival. Your guide meets you at the airport, and the private air-conditioned vehicle drives you to the pyramids. Sightseeing starts straight after landing.
Giza. You see Khufu's pyramid and the Sphinx, which is linked to the reign of Khafre. Your Egyptologist guide explains how the two relate, and the entrance fees for the Giza sites are included. The pyramids are the only Cairo stop on this break, so there is no rush to fit in a second site.
Evening. The afternoon ends at your hotel in Cairo, where you check in for the night. Dinner is not included, and the guide helps you choose a place to eat.
Morning. After breakfast you check out and the private vehicle starts the drive to Alexandria, about 220 km. Because you travel by car, you can stop on the way and the schedule is yours. Your first visit is the Qaitbay Citadel, built in 1477 to 1479 on the site of the Pharos lighthouse.
Afternoon. Lunch is not included, and the guide helps you choose a place. Pompey's Pillar and the Kom el Shoqafa catacombs, found by accident in 1900, are next. Your guide explains what you are seeing at each, and the entrance fees are covered.
Evening. You check in at your hotel by the sea for the night in Alexandria. Dinner is not included.
Morning. After breakfast you check out and visit the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, which opened in 2002. Its main reading room covers 20,000 square metres on eleven levels. Your guide takes you through the building, and mentions the museums inside the complex as well. The entrance fee is included, and so is bottled water.
Departure. The private vehicle then takes you to Cairo airport on the same 220 km road, with your luggage on board. The time you leave is set by your flight. Lunch is not included, and the guide can help you choose a place before the drive.
