Alexandria
Founded by Alexander the Great in 331 BC, two nights
Twelve days: a night in Cairo, two in Alexandria, three more in Cairo, two in Aswan, then 3 nights on a top-category ship to Luxor.
From, per person$1,2756 or more travellers · 3-star hotels

This program starts on the coast and ends on the river. After a first night in Cairo you drive to Alexandria for two nights, come back for three nights of Cairo sightseeing, then fly to Aswan. You spend two nights ashore there before boarding for the sailing to Luxor.
The Nile part is the 3-night Aswan to Luxor sailing on a Deluxe or Ultra Deluxe ship. Ships sail on fixed weekly days, so we start counting from the boarding day and work backward.
It suits travellers with time who want Alexandria and a slow Cairo before the river. It does not suit anyone who wants a beach: there is no Red Sea stay, and the sea you see is the Mediterranean from the Alexandria waterfront.
