Giza & the Sphinx
Khafre's valley temple and the Sphinx at Giza
Cairo, two nights in Alexandria on the Mediterranean, then 4 nights on a Deluxe or Ultra Deluxe Nile ship from Luxor to Aswan. Private guide and car.
From, per person$1,0406 or more travellers · 3-star hotels

Most Egypt programs skip the north coast. This one gives Alexandria two nights and two proper days, then returns to Cairo for the flight south. The Alexandria road leaves from Giza and is 220 km long.
The Nile part is the 4-night sailing from Luxor to Aswan, on a Deluxe or Ultra Deluxe ship that sails on fixed weekly days. Because the ship sets the dates, we plan the Cairo and Alexandria days backward from the boarding day.
It suits travellers who have been to Egypt once or who are curious about the Greek and Roman layers. It does not suit anyone who wants to see Abu Simbel or the Red Sea, and Day 6 is a long travel day: a drive, then a flight.

Arrival. Your Egyptologist guide waits at the arrival gate with your name. A private air-conditioned vehicle drives you to the hotel, and your guide helps with check-in. Bottled water is included in the vehicle.
Evening. The first evening is left open for sleep, and no meals are included. Tomorrow is Giza and the museum, and the Alexandria drive follows on Day 4. Your guide tells you the pick-up time before leaving.
Morning. After breakfast at the hotel, your guide and the private vehicle take you to Giza, with entrance fees included. You spend most of the morning at Khafre's pyramid. Its valley temple yielded several statues of the king, and your guide explains where they stood.
Afternoon. Lunch is not included, so your guide helps you choose a place between the two sites. In the afternoon you go to the Grand Egyptian Museum, which opened to the public in late 2025, and see the Tutankhamun galleries. The vehicle returns you to the hotel in the evening.
Morning. Breakfast at the hotel, then the drive to Saqqara. The day opens with the Step Pyramid and the Old Kingdom mastaba of Ti, and your guide reads the wall scenes with you. Entrance fees are included.
Afternoon. Lunch is not included, and your guide helps you choose a place. Back in the city you visit Fustat, the oldest part of Historic Cairo, for the Hanging Church, the Ben Ezra Synagogue and the Mosque of Amr ibn al-As. They stand close together, so the walking is short. The private vehicle takes you back to the hotel. Tomorrow you leave for Alexandria, so your guide confirms the check-out time.
Morning. After breakfast you check out, and your luggage goes into the private vehicle. The car leaves Giza on the Cairo to Alexandria desert road, 220 km long, with your guide on board. We confirm the drive time with the driver when we book.
Afternoon. Lunch is not included, and your guide helps you choose a place on arrival. You check in at your hotel in Alexandria. Your afternoon is at the Citadel of Qaitbay, which Sultan Qaitbay had built between 1477 and 1479 on the site of the Lighthouse of Alexandria. The Corniche walk afterwards is short.
Evening. The evening is free. Dinner is not included.
Morning. Breakfast at the hotel, then the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, which opened in October 2002 near where the ancient library stood. It holds shelf space for eight million books and has a planetarium. Your guide explains the link to the old library.
Afternoon. Lunch is not included, so your guide helps you choose a place. Your guide then takes you to the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa, a Roman-era burial complex on three levels where Egyptian, Greek and Roman carving sit side by side. Pompey's Pillar is close by. Entrance fees are included. The vehicle returns you to the hotel for the evening.
Morning. After breakfast you check out of the hotel in Alexandria, and the private vehicle takes you and your luggage back to Cairo airport, with your guide. You fly to Luxor, about 1 hour. In Luxor you are met and taken to your Deluxe or Ultra Deluxe ship. Boarding is possible from 12:00.
Afternoon. Lunch is not included today. Your guide helps you choose a place. After you settle into your cabin you have a short visit to Karnak, where the Great Hypostyle Hall has 134 columns. Entrance fee is included.
Evening. Dinner is on board. This is the first of four nights on the ship, which sails on fixed weekly days. It is a long travel day, so tonight is for resting.
Morning. Breakfast on board, then the West Bank takes the whole morning. In the Valley of the Kings your guide chooses tombs for their carving rather than their fame, and the entrance fee is included. The extra-ticket tombs (Tutankhamun, Seti I and Ramses VI) are not included. Hatshepsut's temple at Deir el-Bahari follows, and the vehicle takes you back to the ship.
Afternoon. Lunch is on board, and the ship casts off after lunch. The afternoon is free on the sun deck, and your cabin is yours to use.
Evening. Dinner is on board. Tomorrow's temple is at Edfu, and your guide gives you the outline tonight.
Morning. Breakfast on board. Edfu's temple stands on the west bank of the river and was buried in sand and silt up to about 12 metres deep before excavation began in 1860. That burial is one reason the temple is so complete. Your guide takes you through it and reads the inscribed walls with you. Entrance fees are included.
Afternoon. Lunch is on board. The afternoon is on the ship while it continues south, with time on deck.
Evening. Dinner is on board.
Morning. Breakfast on board. Kom Ombo is the morning stop, with its double temple and a Nilometer. Your guide walks you through both halves of the temple and explains what the Nilometer measured. Entrance fees are included.
Afternoon. Lunch is on board, and the ship ties up at Aswan afterwards. You visit the Nubian Museum, which opened in 1997, and then the Botanical Garden on El Nabatat Island.
Evening. Dinner is on board. Cabins are vacated at 8:00 tomorrow, so pack tonight and leave your luggage ready for the private vehicle.
Morning. You leave the ship after breakfast, and your luggage goes into the private vehicle. Your guide takes you to Philae, one of the sites moved in the UNESCO campaign of 1960 to 1980, and explains how the rescue worked. Entrance fee is included.
Departure. After the visit the car takes you to Aswan airport for the flight to Cairo and your onward connection. The timing of the morning follows your flight, and your guide confirms the plan the evening before.
