Felucca at sunset
A private sailing boat with a crew of two or three
A private evening in Aswan: a felucca sail at sunset on the Nile, then dinner in the Nubian style. Short, slow and finished by bedtime.
RatesOn request

This is the easy end to a sightseeing day, and it asks nothing of you except to sit. A felucca takes you out on the river as the light drops, past Elephantine Island and under the hill with the Aga Khan mausoleum. Afterwards you eat a Nubian dinner, with the venue confirmed for your date when you book.
It suits couples, friends and families who want a quiet evening, and it works well after an early morning at Abu Simbel or Philae because nothing on it is rushed. It is not a good fit if you want a show or nightlife, if you do not like small boats, or if you need a fixed dinner time with no flexibility, since the sail depends on the sun and the wind.
Sunset time changes through the year, so we set the pickup around the sun, not the clock. You tell us your date and we confirm the hour.
A private sailing boat with a crew of two or three
The island facing the city, seen from the water
A pink limestone mausoleum on the west bank hill
A table set in the Nubian style
The botanical island, seen from the water
Your host meets you at your hotel or ship and takes you to the Corniche, where the feluccas tie up. The pickup is timed so you are on the water before the sun reaches the horizon.
You sail with the crew along the east bank and out toward the middle of the river. A felucca is a wooden boat with one sail, or two lateen sails on the Nile, and it is quiet under sail. The wind sets the pace.
Elephantine Island lies ahead of you, and above the west bank sits the Mausoleum of Aga Khan III, finished in 1960. Its interior has been closed to the public since 1997, so the water is where you see it. Your guide points out Kitchener's Island, which is a botanical garden, but the visit is for another day.
The crew brings the boat in and your driver takes you to dinner. We confirm the transfer time and the dinner venue for your date when you book.
Dinner is a set meal in the Nubian style. Your host can explain the dishes and the background of Nubian cooking, and whether there is music depends on the venue and the night. We confirm the menu, vegetarian options and venue for your date when you book.
Your driver takes you back to your hotel or ship. We confirm the finish time when you book.
The sail depends on the wind. In a still evening the boat moves slowly, and in a stronger breeze it can feel cooler on the water. Bring a light layer even in summer, when Aswan averages above 40 °C in daytime from June to September.
Flat shoes with grip for stepping aboard, and clothes you can sit comfortably in. Covered shoulders are polite in the village or restaurant.
If you have an early flight or a very early pickup the next morning, tell us when you book and we will plan a shorter dinner.
Send every cancellation by email so that we can confirm it in writing. The charge is a percentage of the tour price, and anything you paid above it is refunded.
