While cruising along the Nile, guests on the Sun Goddess Nile Cruise have the chance to visit some of Egypt’s most iconic sites. The itinerary typically includes stops at the following locations:
Luxor is often referred to as the world’s greatest open-air museum. Here, visitors can explore the Karnak Temple, the largest religious building ever constructed, as well as the Luxor Temple, which is famous for its grand entrance flanked by massive statues of Ramses II. The Valley of the Kings, home to the tombs of many pharaohs, including that of Tutankhamun, is also a must-see.
Edfu is known for its remarkably well-preserved Temple of Horus, dedicated to the falcon-headed god. Visitors can admire the grand pillars and carvings that tell the story of Horus’s battles and victories. The temple’s impressive structure offers a glimpse into the religious practices and architectural brilliance of ancient Egypt.
Kom Ombo is unique because it is dedicated to two gods: Horus and Sobek (the crocodile god). The Temple of Kom Ombo is one of the most distinctive temples in Egypt, known for its symmetrical design and fascinating reliefs, which include depictions of ancient surgical instruments and other everyday objects. A visit to Kom Ombo is a fantastic opportunity to explore both the religious and practical aspects of ancient Egyptian culture.
Aswan is the gateway to Nubian culture and home to the Aswan High Dam, one of the most significant engineering projects of the 20th century. Visitors can also explore the stunning Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis, or take a traditional boat ride on the Nile to visit the Temple of Abu Simbel, one of Egypt’s most famous archaeological sites.
The best time to take a Sun Goddess Nile Cruise is between October and April. During this period, the weather is more comfortable for sightseeing, with cooler temperatures that make exploring Egypt’s historical sites much more enjoyable. The summer months (May to September) can be quite hot, especially in the southern parts of Egypt, so it is advisable to travel during the cooler months.
