Your Jordanian adventure begins in Amman, a city blending ancient history with vibrant modern life. After a comfortable pick-up, we'll delve into the past with a visit to the Amman Citadel, offering panoramic views of the city's seven hills and remnants of Roman, Byzantine, and Umayyad civilizations. Explore the Roman Theater, a magnificent amphitheater still used for cultural events today.
Next, we journey north to Jerash, one of the best-preserved Roman provincial towns in the world. Wander through its impressive oval plaza, colonnaded streets, temples, and theaters, feeling the echoes of a powerful ancient empire. As the day concludes, we'll travel south towards Petra, where you'll settle into your accommodation in Wadi Musa, ready for the wonders to come.
Today is dedicated to exploring the magnificent Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the New7Wonders of the World. Walk through the dramatic Siq (a narrow gorge) leading to the iconic Treasury (Al-Khazneh), a stunning facade carved into the sandstone cliff. Spend hours discovering the vastness of this ancient Nabataean city, from the Royal Tombs to the Monastery, each turn revealing more of its incredible rock-cut architecture.
In the afternoon, we'll head into the otherworldly landscape of Wadi Rum, the "Valley of the Moon." Prepare for an exhilarating jeep safari through towering sandstone mountains and vast red dunes. Experience the tranquility of the desert as the sun sets, painting the sky with fiery hues. The highlight of your day will be spending the night in a traditional Bedouin camp, enjoying a delicious authentic dinner under a blanket of desert stars.
Our final day brings us to sites of profound biblical and natural significance. We'll drive to Mount Nebo, a revered holy site where Moses is said to have gazed upon the Promised Land. Take in the breathtaking panoramic views of the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and on a clear day, even Jericho and Jerusalem. Visit the Moses Memorial Church, home to remarkable Byzantine mosaics.
Next, we visit Madaba, known as the "City of Mosaics," famous for its exquisite Byzantine and Umayyah mosaics, particularly the 6th-century mosaic map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land found in St. George's Church.
Finally, we descend to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth. Experience the unique sensation of effortlessly floating in its hypersaline, mineral-rich waters, renowned for their therapeutic properties. Relax on the shores, perhaps trying a mud bath, before we conclude our tour with a transfer back to Amman.
